Spreading Love Around Your Community

Friday, February 1, 2019 - 9:45am

Happy February! When this month comes around each year, the first thing that comes to mind about is Valentine's Day. A day when people share their love for a significant other, family, children and friends. So why not spread some love around our amazing community while we’re at it? We at the Center for Dispute Settlement pride ourselves on the work we have done to help around Rochester. Now is the time to get involved! Here’s how:

Volunteer

There are plenty of opportunities out there if you look out for them. If you’re considering ways to get involved in the community as a volunteer but have little time to spare, there are flexible roles that can fit around your busy schedule.

You could try being a:

  • Mentor to a young person
  • Helping our the elderly
  • Hospital visitor
  • Community project worker

Support Local Businesses

There are countless local food markets to shop at around town. There is also the very popular weekly Farmer’s Market and Public Market. Think before you buy. Once the summertime rolls around, you could also attend local events and festivals. Supporting local businesses is easy, rewarding--and most of the time--pretty cheap!

Local Clean Up

When it comes to cleaning and helping around our town, a little can go a long way. Small things like picking up litter and gardening can help to make your local area a nicer place to live. Help out by spreading the word around your neighborhood and getting others involved, too!

February is about more than just showing love for your significant other; it’s about showing admiration for your community by getting out there and getting involved. Sunday, February 17th is National Random Act of Kindness Day; why not celebrate early? At the Center for Dispute Settlement, we think that every day is a good day to volunteer. Check out what we’ve been doing to help the community.
