CDS April 2024 Newsletter cover image

CDS's Family Empowerment Project began in October 2019 through a contract with Monroe County Department of Human Services, serving youth and their families referred by the Family Access Connection Team (FACT). The program is funded by Monroe County’s allocation from the NYS Supervision and Treatment Services for Juveniles Program (STSJP).

January 2024 Newsletter

There's a lot of news these days about the backlash against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Many organizational leaders are fearful of being publicly criticized, or even sued, because of their attention to these efforts. Unfortunately, this has led many organizations to roll back, hide, or minimize this important work, solely out of a fear of backlash.

In this issue, we look back with pride at our many accomplishments together in 2023 - our 50th anniversary year - and look ahead to the opportunities in our agency's future, and to the future of peacemaking in our communities. Looking back, we celebrate our achievements in 2023:

Our dedicated staff closed 1,800 cases, serving close to 4,000 people with dispute resolution services that de-escalate conflicts and provide peaceful pathways to dialogue. Over 50% of our cases involve parenting issues, another 16% are divorce cases, 7% address supports for youth, and about 20% are community/civil issues.
